Dear John

January 2010

Having completed both the Dynamics of Goals Setting and the Time Control program I thought I would share some thoughts with you.

When I set out on the SMI programs I was unsure whether they would contribute all I wanted, primarily because I felt my competence in these core skills was quite good anyway. Furthermore, I wanted a program that would give me a 3-year plan for my businesses and a blue-print for the rest of my personal life.

During the 6-months or so it took to do the programs, I met several people who had similar goals for their continued education and questioned whether SMI would give them the answer. I can categorically say that the SMI program did NOT give me any of the answers I was seeking back in March 2009. However, what it did do was to deliver something more fundamental than that, and of far greater value.

The programs enabled me to question what I wanted, understand what I needed to do to achieve what I wanted, and gave me a system I can use for the rest of my life to achieve anything I truly design for my life.

Looking back, I think this is where some people have failed to recognise the value of the SMI approach.

It is a bridge from where I was to where I want to be, it does not provide the answers - that takes some hard work and commitment from the person doing the course.

As you are aware, I have rolled many of the principles out to my Senior Management and Sales teams. They too are enjoying some of the benefits of adopting a more focused approach to their work. As a result we are enjoying a new level of business success and I am enjoying a new-found passion for my professional and personal life.

Having spent Christmas designing my 2010 I am excited to see what I (and my team) can achieve in the year ahead.

Best wishes and thanks for your support,
